I am Canadian by birth but left Canada in my early twenties and headed for sunny California where I tried yoga for the first time. My occupation as a Registered Nurse provided me with lots of opportunity for travel and I continued to do yoga whenever and wherever I could. I eventually settled in New Zealand after meeting my Kiwi husband. It was about this time that I made a career change, moving from clinical nursing into the academic world. I also went back to university and completed a Masters degree in Nutrition. I have spent most of my career teaching (anatomy, physiology and nutrition), so it’s no surprise that I eventually trained to become a yoga instructor. And being a life-long student, I am now studying pilates. I personally believe that yoga and pilates complement each other very nicely. If I can I will be a student until the day I die. It’s in my blood.

I work part-time as a practice fellow at the University of Otago Medical School and as a Registered Nutritionist in private practice. I am also mother to a teenage son.
